This month has been super amazing with the birth of my son but super tiring and testing all at the same time! Bittersweet to say the least.
I was taught a few years back (thank God) by my coach and mentor Pat Rigsby about my “Ideal Business.” Now I certainly don’t want to steal his business niche because he owns it and masters it but I am a great model of it.
So what does your ideal business look like?
Don’t be conservative and shy about it either, that is a mistake I made in the past and it came back to haunt me.
If you could close your eyes and visualize the perfect business you wanted, what would it REALLY look like??
Most of the time when I ask this question to our clients, they answer with some watered down, 2nd rate version of what they really want!
Why?
Most are afraid to really dream. I know I was at one point. I couldn’t get out of my own way to save my life.
And as a result, my career did not move.
Why should it have?
My biggest mistake was not just having an unclear vision for my business but having the fear of not being able to see it through.
Never again.
Not for you either.
Life ALWAYS has a path. You have to define it and be ready to walk it and do whatever it takes to get from point A to point B.
So what does your ideal business look like?
Just a little over 2 years ago, this is what my business looked like:
-12-14 hours daily, 70-80 hours per week
-Totally exhausted
-Loosing interest in coaching
-Having 2nd thoughts about opening a business in the first place
-Being behind on my books, taxes, calls and virtually everything else
-Barely making bills to the point of almost closing
-Trouble at home with my wife because I was always so tired and stressed
-Getting sick a lot
-Missed all my children’s events
-Almost closed my doors
-Stacking up some debt
-Cutting grass in-between coaching
-Started looking for other jobs
-Not paying myself and milking my savings
Now your business my not look entirely like this but you get my point. Pretty miserable. Heck, I was a talented coach too! I was trainer of the year at every single gym I worked for.
That’s not business. I never once sat down and really thought about what I really wanted or what it looked like. I had no idea how to get it either.
Then literally right before I sold out, I sat down and visualized what I really wanted.
This is what it looked like:
-I wanted to net over $100K yearly
-No work before 8am so I could be with my children and pray in the mornings
-No more missing ANY of my children’s events
-No more work after 4pm so I could be with my family
-Coaching clients only 10 hours per week or less, mostly because I wanted to.
-I wanted vacations with my family
-I wanted to get paid when I went on vacation with my family
-I wanted a full time admin
-I wanted a staff of 5-10 coaches
-I wanted an online business that netted $100k
-No you see where I was and where I wanted to go. There was a path. A very clear one.
It wouldn’t be easy but it was totally possible.
That is paramount to success and accomplishing the things you want in life.
At last, there was a path and I could close my eyes and smile and be happy.
Now in 2018, I am there.
You can be where you want to be too. Don’t take any other view as an option.
Here is how you do it:
-Clearly define your ideal life and business (freaking dream!!)
-Clearly define where you are today.
-Clearly define what will have to happen in order for you to achieve this.
-Get a coach or mentor to show you the way and support you along the way.
-Plan, pepare and practice.
-Be obsessed with getting better.
-Ignore fear.
-Get excited about your future.
-Change your mindset to a growth mindset.
-Be grateful for EVERYTHING
You got this,
Coach Fred
